The Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the 4th quarter of the game last night as they outscored the Pistons 31-16 and sent them home! The Cavs defense was fantastic last night as they held the Pistons to 35.9% shooting from the floor and outrebounded them 53-33 and those were big keys to the victory. But, Daniel Gibson was awesome last night as he scored 19 points in the 4th quarter and made the Pistons pay for double teaming LeBron James. Gibson finished with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Gibson shot well from everywhere on the floor as he hit 7 of 9 from the floor, 5 of 5 from three point range and 12 for 15 from the free throw line! LeBron James was only 3 for 11 from the floor but that didn’t stop him from filling up the stat sheet. He finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was a force in the paint with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Larry Hughes was busy with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Sasha Pavlovic (8 points, 2 rebounds) and Drew Gooden (7 points, 4 rebounds) both had tough nights. Anderson Varejao was very active with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. The Cavaliers have advanced to the NBA Finals after defeating the Pistons 4 games to 2!

Blogged under The NBA Playoffs, Bloglockers, Game recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 1 June 2007 at 12:08 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers were in foul trouble during the OT periods, but it didn’t matter as LeBron James became “King” James last night! James was unstoppable as he scored 25 straight points at one point late in the game and he wound up scoring 29 of the last 30 points the Cavaliers scored! The Pistons tried everything, yet, they couldn’t stop James. James finished up the game with 48 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists on this legend building night! Zydrunas Ilgauskas had a solid game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots before fouling out in OT. Daniel Gibson didn’t shoot well (2 for 7 from the floor) but he still finished up with 11 points. Larry Hughes gutted out 29 minutes on the floor as he added 9 points. Drew Gooden only scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds before fouling out, but he played excellent defense on Rasheed Wallace. Sasha Pavlovic shot poorly as he only hit 2 for 10 from the floor but he finished with 6 points and 9 rebounds. Anderson Varejao was very important for the Cavs after Z and Gooden got fouled out as he finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. The Cavs now lead the Pistons 3 games to 2 as the series returns to Cleveland on Saturday Night.

The Cavs were losing this game 63-62 heading into the 4th quarter and then they rose up….outscoring the Pistons 26-19 to win the game last night. LeBron James was dominating as he led the Cavs with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. His game was complete with a dominating dunk over Rasheed Wallace in the 4th quarter than whipped the crowd into a frenzy the rest of the game! Zydrunas Ilgauskas hit a look of key shots as he finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Sasha Pavlovic (13 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists) and Drew Gooden (12 points and 6 rebounds) both pitched in with good ballgames. Larry Hughes only played 22 minutes last night because of a foot injury as he finished with 6 points. Rookie Daniel Gibson played 29 minutes due to the injury to Hughes and he scored 9 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. Gibson also played great defense against Chauncey Billups. The Cavs now trail the Pistons 2-1 in this series.

The Cavaliers looked great in the 1st half as they rolled out to a 50-38 1st half lead. But the roof caved in during the 2nd half of the game as the Cavs lost their aggressiveness as the Pistons beat them up 41-26 in the 2nd half. It’s amazing how bad of a coach that Mike Brown of the Cavs is. He used up all of his timeouts and didn’t have any the last 5 minutes of the game when they really needed them. Then he threw a temper tantrum that earned him a technical at the end of the game to ensure the Cavs lost the game. LeBron James played hard as he finished up with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Sasha Pavlovic also had a decent game with 14 points and 3 steals, but he also had a costly error near the end of the game when he got called for traveling….and their wasn’t even a Piston defender near him. Anderson Varejao was outstanding off of the bench with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Daniel Gibson also played well off of the bench with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in only 20 minutes on the court. Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden all disappeared last night as they combined to score 11 points on 5 of 19 shooting. The Cavs are now down 2-0 as the series shifts to Cleveland.
