Sasha Pavlovic really steppin’ up for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 11:56 am

The Cavs have been very pleased with the play of Sasha Pavlovic as of late. Over the last two weeks, Pavlovic has averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in his last 8 games. He also has hit 13 of his last 33 three-point shot attempts. Pavlovic is a very aggressive player that likes to get to the rim and he has emerged as the Cavaliers #2 option on the offense.

LeBron James the King once again

For some reason ESPN and various media outlets started picking on LeBron and saying that he wasn’t clutch. Well James is letting his playing do the talking as he’s been the most explosive player in the league over his last 7 games. In those games, LeBron is averaging 34.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 block per game. He’s carrying the Cavaliers on his back as they are now closing in on the Pistons for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

LeBron James playing well this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 9 February 2007 at 12:40 am

LeBron James set the bar so high last season with his breakout performance. He played so well last season that it looks to a lot of people like he’s been a disappointment this season….but that thinking is ridiculous! LeBron is averaging 26.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. Those are numbers most players would kill for. James is shooting 47.4% from the floor, 34.1% from three-point range but only 68.6% from the free throw line. James should quit kissing his wrists and look at the rim when he shoots his free throws because their is no excuse for missing so many free throws when you’re as good of a shooter as he is. It’s hurting the team because he gets fouled a lot. Hopefully, James will straighten that out in the second half of the season.

Anderson Varejao playing well for Cavs

Not everyone on the Cavs brings their A-game all the time….but Varejao sure does. No one takes as many charges as Varejao does and he’s a great defensive player that often frustrates the competition and gets in their heads. In his last 8 games, Varejao is averaging 7.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.4 steals. He’s starting to earn playing time away from Ilgauskas, Gooden and Donyell Marshall.

Drew Gooden steppin up

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 11:33 pm

The Cavs have been looking for someone to step up and help LeBron James on offense and the guy that has is Drew Gooden. Gooden has alot of good moves around the basket and he’s a sturdy rebounder. He also has a decent shot from about 15-18 feet from the basket. Gooden has averaged 15.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists over his last 7 games. The Cavs need to keep getting the ball inside to Drew Gooden and Zydrunas Ilgauskas to take pressure off of LeBron James on offense.
